Alexandra Rose Raisman was born May 25, 1994. She is a retired American artistic gymnast. She served as captain of both the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic women's gymnastics teams. She was awarded a gold team medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Gabby Douglas and Raisman are the only Americans who have won back-to-back gold medals from this event. Raisman was awarded silver medals in the individual all-aroundevent, as well as the floor exercise. She is the 3rd most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, just behind Shannon Miller and Simone Biles, with six Olympic medals.Raisman was also part of the gold-winning American teams at the 2011 and 2015 World Championships, and the world bronze medalist for floor exercise in 2011. She also is a two time national champion in floor exercises (2012 and 2015) and the champion of the national team in balance beam in 2012. She also is five times a medalist at the national championships for all-around (silver, bronze, 2010 2011 and 2015). She was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (2013).
