Linda Edna Cardellini is the daughter of Lorraine (Hernan), a mother, and Wayne David Cardellini (a father), a businessman. She has Italian descent (her paternal grandfather), Irish, German, English and Scottish (her mother). She studied at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama and made her debut with the British TV show Just William (2010). Following her breakout performance in the role of Lady Rose MacClare on the period drama Downton Abbey from 2012-2015, her first breakthrough role was in the fantasy movie Cinderella in 2015. James later played the role of Countess Natasha Rostova as part of the television adaption of War & Peace (2016). James also appeared in numerous films such as Baby Driver (2017) and The Dig -2021. We Go Back Again (2018) as well as Yesterday (2019). The role she played as Pamela Anderson for the biographical show Pam & Tommy in 2022 earned her Golden Globes and the Primetime Emmy Awards.
